Have a look at these amazing properties water carries before starting your fair test!
Do you think the same thing would happen with other liquids?
This research task requires you to perform a fair test (Wiki Spaces, 2015).
Objective
To determine how the density of liquids affects their freezing times.
Materials
Procedure
1. Pour 10 milliliters into a graduated cylinder(make sure every liquid is 10 ml)
2. Pour one liquid into their own space in the ice cube tray
3. record the the temperature periodically - every 15 minutes - make sure not to let out too much cold air from the freezer
4. whilst recording, observe the liquid and look out for any physical changes
5. when the temperature reaches a consistent temperature - the liquid is frozen
6. repeat steps 1 through 6 for each liquid
7. represent all data collected using a Microsoft bar graph
Variables
Independent Variable: Density of liquid
Dependent Variable: Freezing time
Variables That Need To Be Controlled: Temperature of freezer and Amount of liquid
Mini Investigation
To determine which liquid is denser, pour 50mL of each liquid into a clear plastic bottle
- Predict what will happen.
- Wait 5 minutes, and observe and record the results.
- determine the levels of density following the rule - the denser liquid will sink to the bottom.
